      Probably only a doctor can determine the cause of erratic behavior. It could be caused by drugs, legal or illegal, or by some kind of trauma in the brain. People with some form of dementia or often in denial about their condition. It is often up to their loved ones to recognize possible dementia and lead them to a doctor.
