Something I’m wondering cuz my mom has had dementia for 5 yrs now. Do these people TRULY don’t remember anything or they do but this disease/condition is somehow “imprisoning” them, so to speak, from being able to physically communicate to us? Sorry if this sounds weird or confusing I’m trying to be as clear as I can.

I guess what I’m asking is are these diseases like a form of “possession”? Not by spirits, but from a health condition I mean. Are these people truly not there AT ALL?

For the most part though from what little ive personally seen or encountered regarding these type patients is that they no longer are even able to see your loved one thing to comprehend their life and just unable to care for the most part though from what little ive personally seen or people theyve known in dealing with this.
