Family told by NHS: Alzheimer’s is not a ‘health condition’ WHAT?
Saturday, February 20th, 2010Ye Gads, this is so chillingly close to Ezekiel Emanuel’s writings it’s not funny.
NHS Worcestershire ruled that Judith Roe, 74, did not qualify for NHS funding because her condition was a “social” rather than “health” problem, even though she was so ill she could not make a cup of tea and regularly left the stove on.
Recap - Substantively, it suggests services that promote the continuation of the polity-those that ensure healthy future generations,
ensure development of practical reasoning skills, and ensure full and active participation by citizens in public deliberations - are to be socially guaranteed as basic.
Conversely, services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia.

What is this, a selective Health Care?

Keir - Is this a lie? A family has won £130,000 from an NHS trust after it refused to pay for their mother’s care fees, claiming her Alzheimer’s was not a health issue.
People are missing the point here, Ezekiel Emanuel has a selective health agenda.
Steve, I read the article and read your post, the Robinson’s are unfortunate. Obama needs to regulate the Insurance companies more stringently rather than try to take them over.
